Abstract

Quality of service in hospitals depends on the performance of health workers. In the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) section, patients need intensive care. However, the number of nurses at XYZ Surakarta Hospital is inadequate. ICU nurses have a high mental workload. This study focuses on mental workload, because it has a significant impact on the performance of nurses in the hospital. The research aims to measure and analyze the mental workload of ICU nurses at XYZ Surakarta Hospital. This research use NASA-TLX method. The object of this study was 9 nurses using a questionnaire. The mental workload score is calculated from the average Weighted Workload score. Nurses is over 30 years old are proposed to have more working hours than nurses under 30 years old. It’s to reduce the overall mental workload. The level of focus of nurses is a very important factor in serving patients, to reduce wrong actions occur So an additional nurse is needed in the amount of 1 person with an age range of 20-30 years. So that the number of working hours of nurses becomes 43 hours/week.
